Rashad's Uncharted 2 PRELIMINARY Review (Score 9.0) thanks Amir for letting me borrow this game. it's not my usual kind of game. it's pretty rudimentary in its approach to being a 1)shooter 2)platformer 3)adventure game. BUT by rudimentary i don't necessarily mean bad, i just mean it's elementary. although its core gameplay elements are pretty basic, the game overall has a good balance of these elements, making it very fun to play. the voice acting, animation, and screenplay are top notch. the characters converse, express themselves, and move like real people would. there are no awkward moments where the characters kind of stand idly waiting for their cue to perform their next action. this keeps your eyes glued to the screen because it's amazing how real they are. the graphics are downright amazing. once i had it on pause and when i came back to the TV, i literally did a double take because it looked like i had a blu-ray movie on pause. the textures are very detailed. i don't think they skimped on the texturing or details in any setting within this game. the thing is, they paid so much attention to detail by making it look so realistic that you wish you could interact more. underlying it all is a story that makes you want to know what will happen next. it's no Metal Gear Solid type story (at least not yet) but the plot twists and double crossing are enough to keep thinking people wondering what will happen next. so even though i wish the weapons system was more realistic, the interaction with the items and environment were more involved, and the platforming was more varied, i don't mind going through it all because the game nails these basic elements so well, and looks so great while doing it that at this point i would do anything the game requires for me to see this "interactive movie" through to the end.
