Isa (AS) asked his companions, "If one of you were to see a man sleeping on the street, and then a breeze of wind were to blow some of his clothes off, what would you do?" His companions replied that they would cover him up again, but Isa (AS) said, "No, you would take the rest of his clothes off." *** He said this as a perfect analogy to show that when someone shares gossip with you and humiliates the other person by doing this, instead of covering up the person's deeds, you accept the gossip and share even more, hence taking away his dignity and shame completely, as represented by taking more of his clothes off. Something to think about! (I don't have the exact reference to this hadeeth; it was on a powerpoint at a recent lecture I went to and the lecturer had the ref but I didn't get it down).
