Actually allegiance is given to a living person. Baiyah is the arabic term. Baiyah in Islam can come in many forms. Baiyah to the leader similiar to America's Pledge of Allegiance. In Islam many Muslims give baiyah to a shaykh to take as a spiritual guide. Mostly sufis do this. In other ways, Muslims give baiyah to political organizations. To give some examples in America it would be like an Engineer pledging himself to IEEE or a young guy pledging to a fraternity. Your other statement "they deserve to be tortured" if they don't pledge allegiance is something new actually. Usually Islam haters say kill, but your say torturing. I'm not sure where your getting your facts from, but most likely this is just an statement to get emotional responses from Muslims to condemn you for saying that (which I might have done myself if I didn't control my emotions in this response). So if this was true then anything that remotely connected to non-Muslim sources or un-Islamic would be destroyed. Then again if it wasn't for the Muslims, many classical Roman and Greek texts would not have been preserved. Also we wouldn't have historians praising the Muslim rulers of Jerusalem when Christians, Jews and Muslims were all living side by side. I guess they didn't have to give allegiance. I mean if this was true then how come all the Muslims (all one billion of them) would be torturing all the rest of the world to pledge allegiance to someone who isn't living (even when Muslims don't do this). On the flip side here are some contributions of Muslims to the world: http://muslimmatters.org/2010/01/30/cnn-muslim-inventions-that-shaped-the-modern-world/ Peace
Do you think it's ethical for America to bully countries in order to do what is in the benefit of America. See the book "Confessions of an Economic hitman". Islam may have been spread by the sword, but Democracy was spread by the bomb. What about America's support of Israel? Israel gets more aid every year more than Haiti has gotten in a lifetime. Look at the society in general. Have you turned on MTV or VH1 lately? 100 years ago in America, women were covered and decent. Now men are animals and their prey are women. If a girl with short skirts walks down the street or the hallway of a high school, almost 90% of every guy would take a moment to stare at her *ss. Are these the ethical standards that the world should copy? The America media is a major factor for dehumanizing Islam and Muslims. Look at this: http://www.loonwatch.com/2010/01/jihadist-trie-to-kill-the-us-president/ Imagine if that guy was Muslim. They'd be covering it right now more than Haiti. There is a major bias in the American media taking the actions of any criminal act of a Muslim and magnifying it, labeling it part of Islam. Shoot, if a Muslim peed on the street, they'd say Islam told him to do so. When a Jew firebombs a mosque it barely makes the news: http://muslimmatters.org/2010/01/28/cnn-israeli-police-question-extremists-relative-over-mosque-firebombing/. What if an Imam does that to a synagogue? Another thing is all these stonings and whippings in Muslim countries. It happens like a few times a few years and they get a hold of it and spread it like wildfire. While on a weekly basis they are catching Muslims in the act of crimes in these Muslim countries but they usually send them to jail or community service. Punishments vary depending on the person, the type of crime and how bad the crime is. Not every adulterer is automatically whipped or stoned. In a society with millions of people you think they'll only find one adulterer every 2-3 years. No. The crimes are relative and related to the persons involved and the level of the punishable offense. Most of the hadd punishments carried out are voluntary. Meaning the person comes forward and says I committed this crime, I need to receive this punishment. Of course the media skips this part out and doesn't say anything about it.
